Syiah Kuala University (Unsyiah), founded on September 2, 1961, is the largest and oldest public university in Banda Aceh, Indonesia. The name of the university is taken from the prominent theologian, Tengku Abdur Rauf As Singkili, who lived in the 16th century. At the moment, Unsyiah has more than 30,000 students studying in 12 Faculties and Postgraduate Programs.
