The background of this study is the low reading ability of students in the beginning because of some problems that students are less able to combine letters despite literacy, teacher using conventional methods and strategies and not using the right media in learning had been reading. So that in this study there are three problems is the implementation of learning how to use media cards increase the ability to read the beginning of the word, how student learning outcomes in reading starters through learning by using the word card media, what are the obstacles encountered in learning to read the beginning by using the media word cards and how to cope. This research shaped classroom action research (Classroom action research) using qualitative descriptive method. The subjects were teachers and students of class I SDN Sumbergirang 2 Puri Mojokerto totaling 19 students. The study design is run through three stages: planning, execution and observation, and reflection. This study was conducted in two cycles with each cycle there are two meetings. Data collection techniques using observation sheets, test sheets and field notes. The results of the first cycle studies is, feasibility study to 73.6%, the result of student learning in the classical 73.6%, and field notes are teachers need to set a good time, and students are not familiar with the media card following study said. Results of research on the second cycle is for learning feasibility study to 93.6%, the result of student learning in the classical 89.4%, and field notes that teachers are already well on set time in learning and students are able to receive a good learning and enthusiastically. Penerapan Model Pembelajaran Inkuiri Untuk Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Mata Pelajaran IPA Sekolah Dasar

This researct aims to improve student lerning results, describing the activity of the teacher, student activities, and fourth grade student learning results of state elementary school Kromong by applying the model of inquiry learning in science learning. This type of research is action research that consists of 2 cycles. This study uses a model of Kemmis and Mc. Targart research is composed of four phases: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects were all students of fourth grade in state elementary school Kromong Ngusikan District of Jombang. Data were obtained through observation, and testing. Data resulting from the activity of the teacher and student observations analyzed in terms of percentage. Student achievement test data were analyzed based on the percentage of mastery learning individually and then classically described descriptively. The results of this study are results showed an increase in learning results cycle I and cycle II. Teacher activity increased by 16.91% from 74.27% in the first cycle to 91.18% in the second cycle. While the student activity increased by 13.75%, from 71.25% in the first cycle to 85.00% in the second cycle. Results afekti increased 9.50%, from 77.50 to 87.50 in the first cycle to the second cycle. Results psychomotor increased 7.75% from 75.31% in the first cycle to 83.03% in the second cycle. Cognitive learning results has increased. Mastery learning in classical students has increased by 33.67%, from 58.00% to 91.67% first cycle to the second cycle. Based on the obtained results it can be concluded that the application of the model of inquiry learning can improve student learning results. Suggestions researchers that teachers need to develop a model of inquiry learning as early as possible so that students gain meaningful learning experiences that can improve student learning results whether cognitive, affective, and psychomotor.

Penggunaan Media Puzzle untuk Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Siswa dalam Pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial di Sekolah Dasar

The background of this research is the students get difficulties in remembering and understanding the role of the figures that fought for Indonesia independence that is caused by the sequence events happened in the very beginning of the time period. Based on the rationale above, this research aimed to describe the improvement of the teacher's activities during the implementation of puzzle as a media to improve students' learning outcomes, to describe the students' learning achievement after the implementation of puzzle media, to describe the students' responses during the teaching and learning process when the puzzle media is applied. This study used classroom action research. Carried through three cycles and each cycle consisting of planning, implementation and observation, and reflection. Subjects in this study were the fiifth grade of SDN Candirejo II/173 Loceret-Nganjuk. The data collection techniques used in this research were observation sheet (teacher and students), students' score in the test, and questionnaire about the students' responses. The analysis techniques to data compiled the form of qualitative and quantitative. The result shows that on the first cycle, the percentage of the success of the teacher and the students' activities is 78,13% and 71,43%. In addition, the classical success of the class is 60% with the mean of the class of 66. The results got improve on the second cycle in which the percentage of the success of the teacher and the students' activities is 87,5% and 78,57%. Moreover, the classical success of the class is 70% with the mean of the class of 73,5. However, the results of the second cycle had not met the indicator of success yet. Thus, it was continued to the third cycle in which the percentage of the success of the teacher and the students' activities is 93,75% and 92,85%. Furthermore, the classical success of the class is 85% with the mean of the class of 81,75. The result from this third cycle has achieved the indicator of success. While respons students in learning social studies using puzzle media gained 84,44%.
