The enactment of Law No.21/2000 on Trade Union and the ratification of ILOConvention No.87/1948 on the Freedom of Association and Protection of the Rightto Organize in the post-Suharto Indonesia have been excitedly responded byworkers, which then they established so many new labor unions at the plant,regional and national level. Unlike in New Order time, to observe more than onelabor union in one factory is usual phenomenon today. However, this has triggeredconflict among labor unions. This article highlights the conflict among unions andhow far settle the conflict. The article concluded that every union has its own way toresolve the conflict, while their affiliations in regional and national level assume thatthe conflict in the factory level was their own problem, so there was no certain guideto deal with.
